Hughes Claude Pissarro, born in 1935 in Neuilly-sur-Seinen, is the grandson of renowned French Impressionist Camille Pissarro (1830 – 1903). He first studied painting with his father, exhibiting his work for the first time at the age of fourteen. He went on to study in Paris at Ecole du Musée du Louvre and then at Ecole Normale Supérieur. Pissarro’s wide ranging talents have led him to work in many media, including engraving, lithography, landscape and portrait painting, as well as to work in a wide variety of styles, including avant garde, minimalist, abstract and conceptual work in addition to impressionism.
